Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects social interaction, communication, and behavior. Accurate detection by an autism specialist and appropriate intervention play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals with autism receive the support they need to thrive. Autism evaluations are key.
Autism evaluations are completed in three telehealth video appointments by an autism specialist and are appropriate for ages 2 and older. This includes a clinical interview using the gold standard ADI-R. This interview will focus on early development and last 1-2.5 hours.
The next evaluation is a behavioral observation where we watch the child play and communicate, it will last about 15-30 minutes. Lastly is a results appointment where our provider will discuss if a diagnosis of autism is appropriate for your child. The diagnosis of autism is based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5-TR) of the American Psychiatric Association.
